Extended Bodies (2013) was a collaborative international telematic project involving Directors Pauline Brooks of Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) and Luke Kahlich of Nova Southeastern University (NSU) - which is situatied in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. The Directors worked collaboratively with undergraduate and postgraduate dancers from each University to create a focus on body parts and using the equipment to focus on different aspects of the body. Zoomed-in close-ups allowed the audience to focus in on parts of the dancers’ self that may usually be overlooked, and it also gave an almost distorted view of the moving body. Exploring how to create a connection between the performers in both countries was also a key element of this piece. Through focus and movement the dancers on different sides of the world moved as one company.
