Choreography: Intermedial
In 1982 Nexus Dance Theatre was formed in Aberdeen, with Pauline Brooks as one of the founder dance artists/directors. The company was interested in cross-art forms and that interest has continued into more specific work combining dance with visual images. Firstly as early as 1986 in Celtic Cry and then more so in Faces of the Forest; in both works slide projection was used in the choreography. The Interface series 1-5 have further developed that interest by fusing live dance with video graphics and video. As Marcel Proust said "The voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes." The choreographic journey from live theatre, through to intermedial work, has lead, over time, to artistic exploration in telematic choreography and performance.
